Support ArtStarts through the Mainland Concert Series

This summer, the Mainland Concert Series is supporting artists and charitable organizations, including ArtStarts in Schools!

Presented by Side Door and Rogers, Khari Wendell McLelland will perform a livestream concert on Thursday, August 13th at 6pm. Proceeds from ticket sales will go towards supporting ArtStarts and our mission to nurture creativity in the lives of young people across the province.

About Khari
Khari Wendell McLelland is a multifaceted artist whose interest lies in the stories “about who we are, where we come from, the history of the land, and the connection of the people and the land.” Steeped in history, soul, and gospel, his project Freedom Singer recreated the music that fugitive slaves carried on their journey north into Canada.

Khari and ArtStarts
Khari has been connected to ArtStarts in various ways, from being an MC at our Annual Showcase in 2019, to performing in schools. He chose to support ArtStarts through the Mainland Concert Series because his tour with Rup Sidhu (ruploops) to schools across BC showed him the impact artists can have in community.

Khari believes that “more young people deserve to have an opportunity to connect with the arts," as well as in the "centrality of art in helping us express our inner worlds." We couldn't agree more.

Thank you Khari, for generously supporting ArtStarts and helping us bring accessible arts experiences to young people in schools!
