Clay provides tactile and thought provoking experiences unique to this medium. Meet our staff: Robyn Oliver BFA - Ceramics BEd - Fine Art focus Robyn offers 20 years of experience in teaching, combined with her passion for art and this beautiful area. Opening this pottery studio with her long time friend, Shona, is her dream come true; she is excited to offer all types of clay classes and delve into some production pottery of her own. Shona Robichaud Retiring from the engineering world in Calgary and moving to Invermere, Shona fell in love with life in the valley. A hobby potter, mother of two and previous pre-school teacher, co-opening a pottery studio was a perfect match of lifestyle and passion.

We are excited to bring the enjoyment of learning and curriculum exploration through the creativity and imagination possible with the use of clay. Our workshops are targeted as a two day event. The first day is for discussing, planning and making a project, the second day is for glazing our creations.

Clay offers a sensory experience which is invaluable as young children develop fine motor skills, problem solving and 3D thinking. Older children and teenagers engage with clay while developing self expression, self confidence, perseverance and pride in their work. Clay has the unique ability to focus distracted minds and help people hone in on deep concentration skills. Projects are AGE appropriately targeted and can be adapted when schools with multiple grade levels are interested in involving themes of mental health, gender identity, gender preference etc. Pricing starts at $20 per student, and varies based on the complexity of the project. A max of 35 students per class. Several classes can be booked back to back within the same school on the same (or consecutive) days. Clay projects are a two session workshop. Day 1 is the project make day and Day 2 is the project glaze day.

I did my Beginner Wheel Throwing course at Pottery Playground and I'm super happy with some of my creations! What do you think?! Robyn and Shona are the best! Get in there and get muddy with them, I know I can't wait to get back to it! Flower Power Creations is feeling grateful at Pottery Playground. (facebook)
We also had the opportunity to take part in a pottery wheel class with some of our older leadership group after school. This was such a fun experience. We look forward to the next two classes where we will learn how to trim and glaze our creations. Thank you pottery_playground_invermere for making this possible for us to take part in.
