My name is Nellie. I’m a Grade 11 student at a secondary school in Vancouver and I’d like to tell you why I think ArtStarts is so important for young people across BC.
I found ArtStarts a few years ago and I was so happy to find an organization that believed in the power of art the way I do. Art in schools offers an outlet for creativity and expression that many kids don’t get otherwise and when integrated with other subjects, it actually helps us learn better.
Not only does art in schools help us learn today, it gets us ready to face our future, one which promises to be more complicated with each year that passes.
In the future, we will need to be able to shift different paradigms and challenge the status quo. We will need to be able to approach problems with a different mindset. We will need to be able to ask questions rather than simply looking for answers. Today, we need creativity to inspire change. And that is where ArtStarts comes in.
A little goes a really long way when it comes to the arts. The best way to bring the power of the arts in education to young people all across BC is to stand with ArtStarts.
$32 supports a family to engage in an arts based workshop together
$85 supports an entire classroom to experience a live artistic performance at school
$232 supports a classroom to book a private gallery tour and workshop at the ArtStarts Gallery
$550 supports an annual supply of art materials for ArtStarts workshops
Listen to the stories of my classmates in this cool video they made about us. Make a contribution today and join us, because ArtStarts with YOU!!
Thank you so much,
Nellie
